The client lies on a massage table, fully clothed, in a quiet and peaceful setting. The practitioner transfers universal healing energy by gently placing his hands on or over certain parts of the client’s body. On average, a Reiki session lasts between one to one and a half hours.

WHAT DOES THE RESEARCH SAY?
Although the mechanisms behind Reiki are not yet fully understood, several studies have explored its potential benefits. While in-depth research is still developing, clinical success and personal testimonies continue to support Reiki's role in holistic health practices. Ongoing scientific studies are increasingly providing evidence that supports the effectiveness of Reiki.
Pain Management
A 2015 study published in Pain Management Nursing reported that Reiki significantly reduced pain and anxiety in patients after surgery. Additionally, a 2010 study published in the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine found that Reiki treatments considerably reduced pain and anxiety in surgical patients.
Stress Reduction
Research published in 2016 in the journal Evidence-Based Complementary & Alternative Medicine showed that Reiki improved heart rate variability, an indicator of reduced stress.
Support for Cancer patient
Reiki has been shown to improve overall quality of life for cancer patients, notably by reducing stress and symptoms such as fatigue, according to findings published in the journal Integrative Cancer Therapies.
